Our Staff

Marie-Claude Gilbert

Principal

Welcome!

I am thrilled to be the principal of the Canadian section of SHAPE International School.Being a wife of a retired Canadian Armed Forces military officer and a parent, I understand the importance to offer a caring educative environment where all learners can thrive and develop to their full potential.

I am on a loan of service to SHAPE International School from my school district in beautiful British Columbia where I have been working since 2005. I have been a school principal for over a decade and I have acquired extensive experience in minority language settings and in supporting military and RCMP families transitioning in their educational journey.

Teaching and pedagogical innovation are my passions and it is real privilege to work daily with children and teens.

Our school is truly unique and our students are developing skills and lifelong friendships in an   Canadian bilingual environment that has not been seen elsewhere. This is truly an exceptional learning opportunity and the team at the Canadian section wants to make sure each learner feels at home and supported.

Janvier Rousseau

Enseignant titulaire francophone 6-7-8e années

Hello! My name is Janvier Rousseau, and I am honoured to be the teacher of the 6-7-8 French class. I am a wandering Canadian, born in Montreal, and now living in Edmonton, Alberta. My path to education was somewhat unconventional. I completed a bachelor’s degree in History and Theology, I worked for Statistics Canada and I was able to visit our magnificent country from sea to sea before beginning my journey in education. I have taught classes from third grade to twelfth grade. I have benefited enormously from this variety of levels taught, and each grade has had an influence on my current teaching practice.  I am looking forward to connecting with you!

Marcie Walker

Hello! I amm Marcie Walker, originally from Southwestern Ontario. My journey into teaching began with earning my education degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, followed by a fulfilling year abroad teaching in the UK. Since then, I have dedicated 14 years to the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, fostering a love for learning in students.

Music has been my passion since childhood, starting with choir and evolving into trumpet performance in various ensemble settings. I am eager to ignite my students’ passion for not just music, but all forms of art.

I was born and raised here in Belgium. I have always been attracted to cutting-edge technologies in the fields of computing, electronics, aerospace and engineering. When I was a child, I barely played with my toys until I took them apart to understand how they worked.

II try to share this passion with others by explaining how the world around us works. I enjoy working with students here at the Canadian section!
